Dartmouth 38, Cornell 21
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) _ Quarterback Jon Aljancic and tailback Greg Smith led Dartmouth to 21 consecutive points in the second half and a 38-21 victory over Cornell Saturday.
Aljancic completed 16 of 21 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns. Smith carried 27 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns for the Big Green.
Dartmouth led in the first half with a 29-yard field goal by kicker Dave Regula, a 42-yard pass from Aljancic to wide receiver Zach Ellis and a 3-yard run by Smith. Cornell tailback Chad Levitt rushed 72 yards to score in the first quarter and 36 yards to score in the second quarter.
Dartmouth scored twice in the third quarter on a 1-yard plunge by Aljancic and a 3-yard run by Smith. Aljancic threw a 19-yard scoring pass to fullback Pete Oberle with 9:47 left in the game. Levitt ran 24 yards and dove into the end zone for Cornell’s third and final touchdown of the game.
Big Red quarterback Mike Hood, who took over for starter Scott Carroll in the second quarter, completed eight of 14 passes for 78 yards. Wide receiver Eric Krawczyk caught four passes for 35 yards and wide receiver Tom Galeazzi caught three passes for 35 yards.
Dartmouth wide receiver Zach Ellis caught six passes for 166 yards.
