Whitefish man dies in stabbing, son arrested
WHITEFISH, Mont. (AP) — A 65-year-old Whitefish man was stabbed to death and Flathead County officers have arrested his son.
The sheriff’s office says Eric Kevin Hosek was dead when officers arrived at his house at about 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Sheriff Chuck Curry says someone called 911 after seeing the two men struggling.
Hosek’s 26-year-old son, Tanner Hosek, was treated at the Whitefish hospital for minor injuries and jailed on suspicion of deliberate homicide. No charges have been filed.
The stabbing is still being investigated.
Officials at the jail and county attorney’s office didn’t return phone calls seeking to learn if Tanner Hosek had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
The Daily Inter Lake reports previous court documents indicate Tanner Hosek had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and in 2015 a judge appointed his parents as his co-guardians.
