Registration open for new Wayland Academy summer camps
Wayland Academy will have new options for students looking for a camp this summer.
Wayland has partnered with Einstein by Designs to provide science, technology, engineering, art and math summer camps for students in grades 3-8 this year. Activities available at the half-day, two-week camps include woodworking and building a battle robot. The camps are open to any child, including outside of the Beaver Dam area.
“It’s so important nowadays. It’s such a big thing,” said Kelly Bunkoske, the director of auxiliary programs and outreach for Wayland. “If it gets to be where there’s enough interest, we can add new classes next year.”
Bunkoske said he has even been searching for similar programs for his own daughter. Students will be able to bring their projects home with them at the end of the camps.
The STEAM camps at Wayland will not conflict with activities through the Beaver Dam School District, Bunkoske said. They will run 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1-4 p.m. on weekdays July 15-19 or July 22-26, depending on the classes chosen.
Registration is available at wayland.org/einstein. Wayland also offers summer camps in athletics like dance, tennis and basketball.
