Westminster Man Killed in Rollover

WESTMINSTER -- A 58-year-old Westminster man died Friday night after his car rolled over in a crash on Route 2.

Craig Dougherty was heading east near the Recover Centers of America at about 9:30 p.m. when his 2004 Honda Civic struck a 2014 Jeep from behind and caused it to roll over, State Police said.

He was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-year-old man from Arlington, Texas, who drove the Jeep and a 25-year-old Haverhill man who was the passenger, were both taken to UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital in Leominster for minor injuries, according to State Police.

The right travel lane and breakdown lane were closed for about four hours.

State Police collision analysis and reconstruction and crime scene services teams are investigating the crash.

Westminster police and fire, the chief medical examiner’s office, and MassDOT assisted on scene, said police.
