Reds’ Castro Agrees to Extension
CINCINNATI (AP) _ Cincinnati Reds backup shortstop Juan Castro agreed to a two-year contract extension Tuesday that will pay him $400,000 a year.
Castro, 27, came to the Reds in a trade with Los Angeles on April 1 for a player to be named. He was promoted from Triple-A on April 28 after Barry Larkin injured his left hand.
Castro has hit .214 in 16 games, including 10 starts, and has not made an error.
