Oscars primer: Avon hosts nominees film fest

It’s Oscar season and so time to celebrate the best of the year’s cinema and catch up on all the nominated films. You can do just that at The Avon Theatre’s Oscar-Nominated Film Festival, which runs Saturday, Feb. 2, through Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Stamford showplace. This year’s line-up includes five feature films and blocks of short films from all three categories (animated, live action and documentary).

The lineup includes:

Animated Shorts: “Animal Behaviour,” “Bao,” “Late Afternoon” “One Small Step” and “Weekends” screening Thursday, Feb. 7, 6:15 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 9, 11 a.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 13, 8:10 p.m.

Live Action Shorts: “Detainment,” “Fauve,” “Marguerite,” “Madre” and “Skin” screening Thursday, Feb. 7, 8 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 10, 11 a.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 13, 6 p.m.

Documentary Shorts: “Black Sheep,” “End Game,” “Lifeboat,” “A Night at the Garden” and “Period. End of Sentence” screening Saturday, Feb. 16, 11 a.m.

Best Documentary Feature Nominee: “Free Solo” screening Saturday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m.

Feature Nominee Screenings: “Roma” Sunday, Feb. 3, 11 a.m.; “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” Sunday, Feb. 17, 11 a.m.; “A Star is Born” Saturday, Feb. 23, 11 a.m.; “Green Book” Sunday, Feb. 24, 11 a.m.
