SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Kelvin Woods scored 15 points and helped San Diego rebuff a second-half comeback by Santa Clara Saturday night for a 75-64 West Coast Conference victory.

After the Toreros’ 50-33 lead early in the second half had diminished to 54-53 with nine minutes left, Woods scored five points to start a nine-point run that sealed the Toreros’ ninth win in their last 10 games.

The Toreros (16-7, 8-2 WCC) also got 14 points from Michael Brown and 12 from Geoff Probst in avenging a 68-61 loss to the Broncos in the WCC opener.

Michael Woods came off the bench to lead the Broncos with 12 points while reserve DeWayne Lewis scored all seven of his points during their 20-4 rally that cut the San Diego lead to 54-53.
