Fast-moving snowstorm dumped up to 15 inches in Maine
A fast-moving winter storm dumped more than a foot of snow on some places in New England.
The National Weather Service reports Thursday that 15 inches of snow fell near Bethel, 14 inches in Chesterville and 12 inches in Jackman, all in Maine. In New Hampshire, a foot of snow fell near Ashland and 11 inches fell in Plymouth in Grafton County.
Lesser amounts were recorded to the south and along the coast.
The storm was fast and furious with snow falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour on Wednesday in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
The snow cleared out of the region before midnight and most roads were cleared before the morning commute on Thursday.
