Missouri River Outdoor Expo is scheduled for Sept. 15-16

Outdoor novelists and enthusiasts alike, mark your calendar for the 14th Annual Missouri River Outdoor Expo, Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ponca State Park in Ponca.

The Missouri River Outdoor Expo is an opportunity for people of all ages to connect with the outdoors through hands-on activities, educational exhibits, vendor displays and featured entertainment. With more than 90 hands-on activities, there is something for everyone.

You can try your hand at kayaking, a mountain bike obstacle course, fishing, rock climbing, shooting sports, a ropes obstacle course, learn how to make a turkey call, tag a monarch butterfly, learn outdoor cooking tips, touch live animals and so much more.

In addition to hands-on activities, there will be an assortment of entertainers like archer Frank Addington the “Asprin Buster,” Axe Women Loggers of Maine, Adam Lindquist as Teddy Roosevelt, Paralympian archer Matt Stutzman, Wildlife Encounters, Dockdogs Aquatic Dog Competition, C2 Trick Shooting and others.

There are even friendly competitions scheduled like the sixth annual Kid’s Cook-Off, fifth annual Bob’s Burger Eating Contest, and Smoke on the River BBQ Challenge. Prizes are awarded in each of these contests.

The Missouri River Outdoor Expo is the largest outdoor expo in the Midwest thanks to the generosity of sponsors, exhibitors and more than 900 volunteers. A state of Nebraska park entry vehicle permit is required; Nebraska licensed vehicles cost $6 and out-of-state vehicles are $8.
