Atessa, Inc., Announces New Lifespan, Location-Based Security IP Feature

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 13, 2018--Atessa, Inc., a leading provider of system IP with anti-tamper technology, announces a new high-speed encoding feature called Durata ™. Based on a collaboration with the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), the new feature solves a critical security issue in data communications and storage.

Durata addresses the significant vulnerability in information exchange that once a file is transferred the owner of the data no longer has absolute control over how it is seen or used. Supporting advanced system security and the protection of critical information, the new encoding feature allows the owner to set the lifespan of the information to be transferred – from millionths of a second to thousands of years. In addition, the anti-tamper (AT) protection embedded in Durata enables enforcement of a specified location and protects against unauthorized access at the highest levels of strength.

“Imagine information sent to a destination over the cloud that would only be useful at a specific location and only for a specific duration of time,” shared Edward King, CEO of Atessa. “Regardless of additional layers of transformation, encryption, the number of copies made, or even where the information is stored during its lifetime, the data’s end of life will occur simultaneously to all copies, including partial copies, as instructed by the owner.”

Engineered to protect information ranging from massive scale to single file transfers, such as a PIN, this new feature is applicable to systems supporting U.S. defense, critical infrastructure/SCADA, financial, communications/network, and Internet of Things (IOT) markets. This security countermeasure addresses both insider threats and external attacks.
