MacDonald, Barton shine at Crim Swim: Lady T-birds place 2nd, T-birds 3rd at Colorado River Championships
BULLHEAD CITY — Sophomore Madelynn MacDonald won two events and senior Mikayla Barton one to lead Mohave High School during the Crim Swim at the Valley Aquatic Center in Yuma, Arizona, which was hosted by Yuma High School on Saturday.
The meet settled the Colorado River Championships, and Cibola topped the nine high schools competing in the event.
MacDonald and Barton each recorded two state provisional qualifying times.
MacDonald won the 100-meter butterfly in a time of 1 minute, 7.83 seconds and the 200 freestyle at 2:11.95.
Barton was victorious in the 100 freestyle at 1:01.62.
The Cibola girls came in first place with 307 points, Mohave finished second at 208, Lake Havasu third at 178, Kofa fourth at 67, Lee Williams fifth at 57, Kingman sixth at 29, Yuma seventh at 25, San Luis eighth at 22 and Gila Ridge ninth at 14.
The Cibola boys came in first place at 301 points, Havasu finished second at 219, Mohave third at 145, Kofa fourth at 104, Lee Williams fifth at 75, San Luis sixth at 36, Yuma seventh at 26 and Kingman eighth at 1.
Havasu placed second overall and Mohave came in third.
Mohave will have two more meets before the AIA Division III Swim and Dive Championships, to be held on Nov. 2-3 at the Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa.
