Aiken City Council meets Monday in public, private
The Aiken City Council meets Monday, Nov. 12 both in public and behind closed doors.
A City Council work session is scheduled for 5 p.m., and a regularly scheduled meeting will come after that at 7 p.m.
During the work session, City Council will hear a fiscal year 2017-18 audit as well as a presentation on solid waste services. City Council member Andrea Gregory requested the latter, according to meeting documents.
During the regular meeting, City Council will tackle a slew of annexations — four tied together — and the second reading of an ordinance to amend the limited business and downtown business zoning districts. City Council will also approve a list of action items, which will help steer the Planning Commission in 2019.
The Planning Commission advises City Council.
When the 7 p.m. meeting ends, City Council will go into executive session to discuss two things: the purchase of land “in or near” the city and the compensation “of certain city employees,” according to the public notice.
It is not clear if any action will be taken by City Council after the executive session ends.
