Hawk, Rojas miss cut in N. Carolina
The fish weren’t biting for Lake Havasu anglers Roy Hawk and Dean Rojas on Friday, both missing the weekend cut following the elimination round of Stage Three of the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour on Falls Lake in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Hawk entered the round with a chance to sneak into the weekend less than two pounds from the cut line. The lake didn’t cooperate, however, Hawk catching just four bass in the second round weighing 7 pounds, increasing his total weight to 25 pounds, 7 ounces to fall to 30th place in Group B.
Rojas nearly doubled his first round catch, reeling in five bass at 15-2 to up his two-day total to 15-2, finishing in 38th place.
The top 20 anglers from the group advanced with Oklahoma’s Jeff Kriet getting the last spot with 14 bass weighing at 33-10. Northern California’s Ish Monroe led the group with 18 fish caught at 60-12. Phoenix’s Brett Hite is in third place with 21 fish weighing 55-1.
Texas’ Kelly Jordon caught the most in Group A, reeling in a total weighing in 93-4. San Tan Valley’s Josh Bertrand finished 14th in the group with a total of 38-8.
The scores will all reset for today’s knockout round with the top 10 anglers from the final group of 40 advancing to Sunday’s championship.
