July 30, 2018

Mike Tritle, president of the Turning Back Time Car Club and director of the show, tells the crowd about the rebuilding process of this1970 Dodge Charger on Sunday during the 19th annual Fizz Ehrler Memorial Turning Back Time Car Show in Sycamore. The classic car will be featured on an upcoming episode of the TV show “Garage Squad: on the Velocity network. The car show featured about 1,025 cars and motorcycles and drew more than 10,000 spectators to downtown. The all-day event began when gates opened at 6 a.m. At noon, there was a fly-over by two Stearman biplanes. At 3 p.m., 138 trophies were awarded during the event’s closing ceremony. “We have everything at the show, and one of the coolest parts about it is how diverse the car inventory is,” Tritle said. “We have hot rods and rat rods, muscle cars and custom cars. ... It’s not the same show every year. You don’t see the same cars over and over again. We have new cars, more spectators. We always add some new things. We have music, old cars and participation from vendors and restaurants. It’s just a fun event that’s free with lots to do.”
