Dez Bryant ‘received interest’ from Redskins, new report says

November 11, 2018

Wide receiver Dez Bryant had one roller coaster of a season for a guy who didn’t play at all.

Bryant tore his Achilles this week in his second practice as a member of the New Orleans Saints, ending his 2018 season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that while a free agent, Bryant “received interest” from the Washington Redskins, among several other teams.

It was previously thought that the Redskins had no interest in signing Bryant to prop up their receiving corps. Of course, this could just have been Washington doing its due diligence.

The Cardinals, Bills, Seahawks and Packers also explored signing Bryant, Rapoport wrote. The public previously knew that Bryant turned down offers from the Ravens and Browns before joining the Saints.

Bryant initially made clear that he would have liked to play for another NFC East team, for a chance to face the Cowboys, where he spent his first eight NFL seasons.

He also picked out the Redskins by name on more than one occasion, via Twitter:

The redskins looking nice its a bunch of East Texans over.. Im just saying Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) September 9, 2018

It turns out the interest was more mutual than we thought. Regardless, Bryant’s season is now over, and the Saints get to decide whether to bring him back for 2019.
