CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Kelvin Price had career-highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds and North Carolina Charlotte extended its winning streak to four games with a 66-53 victory over No. 23 Marquette on Tuesday night.

Price, a junior forward whose previous bests were 18 points and 12 rebounds, had 15 points and eight rebounds in the second half. The 49ers (7-5, 3-0 Conference USA) also got 19 points and 13 rebounds from DeMarco Johnson and 11 points and seven assists from Sean Colson.

Marquette shot 32 percent _ including 22 percent in the first half _ and had 20 turnovers on the way to its third straight loss after opening the season with 10 consecutive victories. The defending conference champions, who fell to 1-3 in the league, got 10 points apiece from Aaron Hutchins and Jarrod Lovette. Hutchins had six turnovers.

The 49ers missed their first 11 field-goal attempts but wound up shooting 46 percent, including 53 percent in the second half.

Marquette struggled in the first half for the second straight game. Two days after making just four field goals and shooting 17 percent in the opening half of a 17-point loss to Cincinnati, the Golden Eagles made seven of 32 field goal attempts and had 12 turnovers in the first half against North Carolina Charlotte.

North Carolina Charlotte built a pair of 10-point leads in the second half before Marquette went on an 11-4 run, helping the Golden Eagles tie it 43-43 on two foul shots by Richard Shaw with 9:44 left.

The 49ers responded with a 13-6 run, featuring six points by Price and four by Johnson, for a 56-49 lead with 5:29 remaining. Marquette got no closer than five before North Carolina Charlotte scored the final six points.

Eleven minutes into the game, the teams had combined to miss 24 of 28 shots and turn the ball over 16 times. North Carolina Charlotte led 7-4.

The 49ers closed the first half by making four of six shots, fueling an 11-4 run that put them up 24-18 at halftime.
