Middleborough student killed, 2 others hurt, in car crash
MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Middleborough police say an 18-year-old high school senior has been killed in an early morning crash that injured two passengers.
Police said Nathan Childs crashed at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday across from the South Middleborough fire station. Two passengers, Middleborough High juniors Ben Sangiolo and Jacob Levesque, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police Chief Joseph Perkins tells the Brockton Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1Axh7s1) that a preliminary investigation has found no sign that alcohol was involved. He said the teens were returning from dinner in Plymouth.
Middleborough Superintendent of Schools Roseli Weiss said in a phone message to parents that Childs had been “a wonderful performer” in a leading role in the school’s production of “Grease” this weekend.
She said a Sunday matinee was canceled and counselors would be available at the school.
