Creator from Philly
Charles Darrow, of Philadelphia, first developed the Monopoly game in 1933. He sold the rights to Parker Brothers two years later.

More than 275 million games have been sold in 111 different countries. Monopoly has been translated into 43 languages.
Blind can play, too
In the 1970s, a Braille edition of the game was created for the visually impaired.

More than 300 licensed versions of the Monopoly game have been themed to topics such as sports teams and movies such as “Despicable Me.”
