Arson investigation under way for building fire

July 8, 2018

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — Officials say firefighters in Rhode Island spent hours battling a building fire.

Crews responded to a structure fire shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday in West Warwick.

WPRI-TV reports a neighbor called 911 when they saw the commercial building burn.

The building was vacant. Lieutenant Fire Chief Frank Parente says the fire is suspicious and an arson investigation is under way with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

He says the same building caught fire four years ago.
