Pa. House Fire Kills 4
LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) _ Fire spread through the first floor of a suburban Philadelphia home early Sunday, killing a 4-year-old girl, her mother and her grandparents, police said.
Mark Liebel said he and other neighbors saw smoke and flames in the house about 7 a.m. They tried to reach the family by breaking windows and shoveling snow in to stop the fire, but the smoke was too thick to see inside.
One neighbor was to pull the 4-year-old girl out, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, said Michael Moretti, county director of emergency services.
The two-story house was ablaze when firefighters arrived about 7 a.m. The bodies of Colleen Connor, 28, Dale Connor, 51, and Donald Connor, 45, were found inside, police said. Authorities said the little girl’s name was either Cassie or Kasey.
The fire was concentrated on the first floor and may have been sparked by an electrical problem, Falls Township police said. An official cause had not been determined.
