Changes at Community Center During Construction
Broomfield is getting a new Community Center. The new Broomfield Community Center is scheduled to undergo reconstruction beginning next month.
In preparation for these exciting changes, the Broomfield Community Center will be closed from Aug. 27 through Summer 2020. The Senior Center side will be closed from Aug. 27 and tentatively will reopen the week of Sept 17. The Senior Center side will remain open during the full reconstruction project.
After more than 40 years of bringing families and community members together, Broomfield Community Center members took to the pool walls to display their memories at BCC. Here’s what they had to say:
• “21 years of H20!”
• “My home away from home”
• “Adios BCC! You’ve (weird to call a building a person) been a constant presence throughout my entire life. From art classes to Girl Scouts to swim team to Guard Start & lifeguard classes, I’ve spent a lot of time here in my lifetime. I will really miss guarding & teaching lessons here now, & will always cherish the cold waters. So seyanarra, BCC. Until we meet again in 2020 — Corinne”
• “See you later, alligator!”
The City and County of Broomfield is excited to redesign the new Community Center and create additional family memories for years to come.
Broomfield residents can look forward to a more efficient facility to suit the needs of Broomfield’s changing community. Plans for the new Community Center include adding additional square footage and recreation space, with improved accessibility for seniors and those with disabilities. Prospective changes within the facility include more meeting rooms and rental space in the Lakeshore Room, a state-of-the-art seniors-only lounge, larger cold and warm water pools, high-quality wood and project storage for the Woodshop, additional space for fitness and recreational programs, and updated locker rooms for families and seniors. The current building plans and the project timeline can be found on the BCC Reconstruction website at Broomfield.org/BCCReconstruction .
Many of the planned changes to the Broomfield Community Center came from community input given through social media, focus group meetings, public surveys, and the 2017 Broomfield Days booth. This feedback has been, and will continue to be, crucial to the success of this project. Community members who’d like to share their memories, thoughts and feelings about the renovations, ideas for the new facility, or any remaining questions can do so at Broomfield.org/BCCReconstruction .
