SCRANTON, S.C. – Two men were arrested early Monday morning by deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and charged with malicious injury to property.

Mark Elmore, 43, of 2210 Epps Road, New Zion, and Ronald Anthoniel Cousar, 45, of 1406 Barnhill Lane, Alcolu, were arrested after fleeing from the scene of a business located on U.S. 52 near Scranton.

The first deputy who responded to a call at approximately 4 a.m. saw two subjects inside the gated perimeter of the business.

The suspects fled to a nearby wooded area. Deputies quickly set up a perimeter to contain the suspects and the FCSO Special Operations K9 Unit was called to the scene. After a manhunt of several hours, a tracking canine led deputies to the subjects, who were hiding in the woods.

Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

Investigators believe Elmore and Cousar cut the fence to gain access to the business. Both men will be held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing before a Florence County magistrate.
