Havasu named among top job creators
A feature published last Monday in USA Today identified the Lake Havasu City-Kingman region among 31 cities adding the most jobs as the U.S. economy grows.
According to the author, Samuel Stebbins of 24/7 Wall Street, the U.S. is in the midst of unprecedented economic growth, having added 134,000 new jobs in September and marking a 96th consecutive month of job growth. Since 2013, Stebbins wrote, employment numbers rose 7.8 percent nationwide.
The Lake Havasu City-Kingman statistical area added 10,750 new jobs within the past five years, with the highest rate of growth found in the hospitality and leisure industry. Havasu was ranked 26th in job-creation nationwide, according to Stebbins.
The study found that Lake Charles, Louisiana, topped the list in employment, adding 24,482 new jobs within the past five years. The bulk of those jobs were in the mining, logging and construction industries.
