Jane E. Ebert
OCONOMOWOC -- Jane Evelyn Ebert, 88, of Oconomowoc and formerly of Ixonia, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2019, at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc. She is now happily at peace with her Lord and reunited with her son Ron and her husband, Milton.
Jane was born in Oconomowoc on Feb. 16, 1930, daughter of Arnold and Linda (Woltmann) Loppnow. She married Milton Ebert on June 14, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc.
Jane was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, sharing meals with her family, spending time with the grandchildren and attending her church regularly up until the time she needed nursing home care.
Her greatest joy was having her children and grandchildren around her. When she was still at home, her family always looked forward to her famous spaghetti casserole, crispy fried chicken, potato pancakes, melt-away bars and Christmas honey cookies! Mom would always send cookies, bars and cake home with everyone, reminding them, “It’s good for you!”
Jane’s children would always smile among themselves when the grandchildren (in younger years) spent the day with “Grandma” and then cried when it was time to go home, the reason being they were having too much fun! (Thanks, Mom, for being the most precious gift for all of us!)
Surviving are her four children: Diane (Dennis) O’Brien of Oconomowoc, Linda (Dave) Mickelson of Ixonia, Alan Ebert of Fort Atkinson and Mark (Renee) Ebert of Ixonia. Her grandchildren include David (Alison) O’Brien, Katie (Ryan) Montgomery, Jennifer Mickelson, Sierra Ebert and Joyce, Neil and Terri Haimerl. Her much-loved sisters are Grace Olson of Oconomowoc and Florence Kroll of Oconomowoc. Great-grandchildren she treasured are Maddy, Owen and Kiera Montgomery.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John, Robert and Fredrick; husband, Milton; and dear son, Ron.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia on Friday from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joel Free officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Ixonia.
Memorials to St. Paul’s Church or School in Ixonia or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff in the Summercreek wing at Shorehaven for their compassionate care. Our mom made good friends there -- staff and residents -- and we are grateful for their loving companionship.
