Utah Valley Educator of the Week: John Mcilmoil

November 25, 2018

John Mcilmoil

John Mcilmoil, a physics teacher at Timpview High School, is highly devoted to his students and his school. For these reasons and many more, he has been selected as the Daily Herald Educator of the Week.

John first received his bachelors degree from Brigham Young University then went on to earn a master’s degree at the University of Utah. John just entered his 25th year of teaching; each year spent with the faculty, staff and students of Timpview High. He loves the support he receives from everyone at the school and never feels the need to leave.

When asked about his favorite part of teaching, John quickly replied, “the kids.” He enjoys how excited they get and how eager they are to learn every time they enter the classroom. John especially appreciates when his students understand a hard concept after applying themselves and searching for answers.

When John isn’t at school, he enjoys wrestling, riding bikes and hunting. John claims he’ll ride anything that has two wheels. We are grateful for his kindness and dedication to teaching.
