Severe thunderstorms possible today, Tuesday

August 7, 2018

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, the National Weather Service said.

Damaging straight-line winds and heavy rain are the primary threats, and there is a chance for a few strong storms this afternoon, especially north of U.S. 6 and east of Interstate 69, the weather service said. Tonight, the best chances for strong storms are west of the interstate, it said.

The weather service said there is a low probability for widespread hazardous weather today in Mercer County, Ohio.

Heat indices will be in the mid-90s today, the weather service said. It said thunderstorms are likely throughout the area on Tuesday afternoon.
