UNIVERSITY-SETTLEMENT

MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota agreed to pay $137,500 to an undergraduate student who alleged she was raped while studying in Cuba in 2014, according to a settlement. UPCOMING: 250-300 words.

MICHIGAN PIPELINE

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Senate plans Wednesday to pass a bill authorizing the Mackinac Bridge Authority to build and oversee a tunnel that would house a new oil pipeline in the waterway connecting Lakes Michigan and Huron. The legislation would help implement Gov. Rick Snyder’s plan to replace an existing pipeline, but is opposed by environmentalists and others. By David Eggert. SENT: 130 words.
