County planners approve assisted living facility

January 15, 2019

KINGMAN — The Mohave County Planning and Zoning Commission gave its approval for an assisted living facility in north Kingman.

Meeting for the first time in 2019, the commission approved a permit for a 5-acre parcel north of Cactus Wren Drive and east of Bull Mountain Road for an assisted living home for up to 10 residents in Kingman.

Commissioner Bill Abbott said there is a need for more assisted living facilities in the county. Other issues that were discussed included water and sewer systems.

The commission elected District 2 Commissioner Melanie Bruehl as the new vice chairman. At the December meeting, District 3 Commissioner Mychal Gorden was elected as commission chair.

The 10-person commission consists of two members from each supervisor district. Bruehl and Dale Kelley represent District 2 and Larry Morse represent District 5. There is one vacancy each from District 1 and District 5. The commission meets the second Wednesday of each month.

The planning and zoning issues will go before the county supervisors for approval at their Feb. 4 board meeting.
