LOS ANGELES (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says a helicopter crew has rescued a 64-year-old man who fell ill at a Navy facility on San Nicolas Island off the Southern California coast.
Officials say the victim, a contractor, experienced stroke-like symptoms Wednesday afternoon.
A crew from the mainland flew to the island and transported the man some 60 miles to a hospital in Ventura County.
He was last reported to be in stable condition.
