Third woman accused of assaulting convicted molester pleads guilty
DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) _ A woman pleaded guilty today to kidnapping and sexually assaulting her son-in-law, a convicted child molester who she feared would abuse the same child again.
Mary Franks, 44, faces at least three years in jail on attempted rape and kidnapping charges. It was not immediately clear when she would be sentenced.
Mrs. Franks was one of three women _ along with her daughter Jewell Hosler and sister-in-law Vicki Coulter _ charged with sexually assaulting Rodney Hosler with a cucumber on July 26. The women wrote ``child molester″ with black marker on his body, then drove him an hour away and dumped him clad only in a blanket outside a pizza parlor.
The child Hosler was convicted of molesting was related to all three women.
The plea came on the first day of Mrs. Franks’ trial.
Mrs. Hosler, who filed for divorce after the attack on her estranged husband, and Ms. Coulter had already pleaded guilty to related charges. Mrs. Hosler, who was sentenced to two years in prison, had agreed to testify against her mother.
Mrs. Hosler’s attorney, David Yost, told The Columbus Dispatch that she was prepared to testify that her mother planned the attack because she feared Hosler was molesting the now-7-year-old child again.
Hosler, 27, was released in January after serving two years in prison for molesting the child.
Hosler told police he was watching television when the women entered his apartment, shaved his head and pubic hair, sexually assaulted him with a cucumber and put a heat-producing ointment on his genitals.
