3 police officers disciplined for using excessive force
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Three Florida police officers have been disciplined for using excessive force in two separate incidents.
The Tampa Bay Times reports the action was taken after St. Petersburg police Chief Anthony Holloway convened a review board to deal with the incidents.
K-9 Officer Matthew Kirchgraber was helping a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy arrest a man on April 4. He was accused of delivering three “distractionary blows” to the man’s side. He will be required to receive training in excessive force.
On May 6, Officer Andrew Viehmann used a stun gun on a suspect who had fled police. Viehmann was disciplined with a two-week suspension. Officer Seth Maranville was also received an employee notice for using improper procedures.
