DES MOINES, Iowa _ The Iowa Attorney General’s Office is suing to shut down what it describes as a national puppy-laundering ring that sells dogs from illegal breeding operations at inflated prices while pretending the animals are rescues. SENT:

The Iowa attorney general’s office says in a lawsuit that Iowa is home to a national “puppy laundering” ring that masquerades puppy-mill puppies as rescue animals and selling them for as much as $3,600 each. UPCOMING: 300 words.


POLICE-INVOLVED SHOOTING _ Police in the Des Moines suburb of Ankeny say an officer has shot a burglary suspect who advanced on officers.

BOY KILLED-SITTING _ Iowa police say a 2-year-old boy died after a man sat on the child for allegedly taking his cellphone.

BREAK-IN DEATH _ Authorities say a man suspected of attempting to steal items from a dentist’s office in eastern Iowa died after scuffling with the dentist.

TEACHER ARRESTED-ALCOHOL _ A teacher accused of being drunk at her school in Dubuque has pleaded guilty.
