November 8, 2018

A 26-year-old New Castle man died early Sunday when the car he was driving went off the road and struck a tree in Slippery Rock.

State police say Justin Patrick Delaney was driving a Chrysler convertible at 1:45 a.m. on Route 65 (Ellwood Road) when he crossed over the center line and went off the opposite side of the road.

The car struck a mailbox and went over a ditch before striking a tree in a residence’s front yard. The car came to a stop on its passenger’s side.

Police said Delaney was not wearing a seat belt and is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

State police said they continue to investigate.
