William “Bill” Heesacker, 78, of Humphrey, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, with the Rev. Patrick McLaughlin and Walter Jong-a-Kiem concelebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary of the Angels Cemetery in rural Humphrey, with military honors by the Humphrey American Legion Post 80 Zuerlein, and VFW Post 7725 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, at the church, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, also at the church.

Bill was born May 26, 1940, in Humphrey, to Clarence and Marie (Dreifurst) Heesacker. He attended school at Humphrey St. Francis, and then graduated from Humphrey High School in 1958. On Sept. 23, 1958, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served until being honorably discharged on Sept. 15, 1960. He returned to Humphrey, and on Jan. 19, 1963, Bill was united in marriage to Marilyn Wemhoff in Madison. They lived in rural Humphrey, where Bill was a hobby farmer while working full-time at Saunders Archery in Columbus for 33 years. He then went to work at Lindsay Manufacturing before retirement. Bill enjoyed spending time in his large garden, listening to country music, and using his artistic talents for projects on the farm. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his sons as they worked on cars at the farm.

Bill is survived by wife, Marilyn Heesacker of Humphrey; son, Billy Joe (Barb) Heesacker of Humphrey; daughter, Cindy (Greg) Gasper of Columbus, daughter, Barb (Terry) Kruid of Elkhorn; son, Jason (Jennifer) Heesacker of Columbus, son, Jessie (Michelle) Heesacker of Platte Center, son, Tom Heesacker of Platte Center, son, Mike (Jasmine) Heesacker of Humphrey; daughter, Sarah (Joe) Trice of Elkhorn; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Erv (Betty) Heesacker of Columbus, sister, Donna (Bill) Kubas of Columbus, sister, Dee Trzeciak of Council Bluffs, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Marie Heesacker; brothers, Marv, Alvin, and Ivan Heesacker; and sister, Margie Paprocki.
