Rabbi Sentenced in Sex Abuse Case
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ A rabbi who used his computer to download child pornography and lure teen-age boys to meet him for sex was sentenced to six years and six months in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas also sentenced Jerrold Levy to three years probation Friday and said he must undergo sex offender treatment. Levy pleaded guilty in August to charges of child enticement and child pornography charges.
Levy resigned his post as associate rabbi at Boca Raton’s Temple Beth El after his arrest earlier this year.
Prosecutors say Levy had sex with a 14-year-old boy in the rabbi’s car in February. He was arrested in April when he arrived at a library for a rendezvous set up by an undercover detective posing online as a teen-ager.
