NEW YORK (AP) _ A man who had been kicked out of a nightclub returned 15 minutes later with a semi-automatic weapon and opened fire early Sunday, wounding 10 people.

One woman who was shot several times was in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital, police spokeswoman Betsy Herzog said. The others injured _ a woman and eight men _ were listed in serious condition at various hospitals. The victims were not identified.

Police were reviewing videotapes from a surveillance camera at a nursing home across the street to try and identify the shooter, who fled the Sugarhill Club in Brooklyn.

``We are looking at exactly what the reason was for the dispute,'' said Assistant Chief Joseph Esposito. ``But there were two men who were asked to leave and one of them returned and fired the rounds.''

Witnesses said more than 200 people were inside when the shooting started.
