Authorities nab heroin, methamphetamine near Arizona border
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Border Patrol agents say they have arrested two Mexicans after seizing more than 24 pounds (10 kilograms) of methamphetamine and heroin from their vehicle near the border in southern Arizona.
The agency said Friday that the arrests were made Thursday afternoon at the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint after a specially trained dog detected the drugs. The 25-year-old female driver and her 26-year-old male passenger were taken into custody.
The drugs hidden in the vehicle had a combined value of more than $120,000 hidden inside the vehicle.
