Wright State’s Hollins Suspended

November 27, 2001

FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) _ Wright State guard Vernard Hollins was suspended for one game for his conduct in the locker room after a victory in which he played poorly.

Hollins, averaging 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds a game, will sit out Thursday’s game against Tennessee State.

Coach Ed Schilling said Hollins responded inappropriately to criticism about his play. Schilling would not elaborate.

During Wright State’s 75-62 victory Saturday over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne, Hollins accounted for six of his team’s 18 turnovers.

``I was frustrated with my performance, and I responded poorly in the locker room,″ Hollins said Monday. ``I was wrong in the things I said and how I carried myself. I let my emotions get the best of me.″

Wright State, which plays in the Horizon League, is 2-1.
