Body of Missing Athlete Found Near Start of Triathlon
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (AP) _ The body of a man who disappeared during the swimming portion of a triathlon was found Thursday - four days later - about 75 yards from the starting line.
A shore patrol team found the body of Larry Swaner, 33, in the lake of the Dallas suburb, said Donna Huerta, a town spokeswoman.
Swaner accidentally drowned, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office determined.
The shore patrol had been searching for Swaner since officials of Triathlon Farmers Branch said he never finished the 1,000-meter swim Sunday. Friends said the triathlon was Swaner’s first.
The other parts of triathlon are running and bicycling races.
