Police investigating credit card activity at water utility
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police in Rhode Island are investigating suspicious credit card activity at a water utility.
WPRI-TV reports Providence Water Supply spokesperson Chris Hunter confirmed Providence police are conducting a criminal investigation into “suspicious activity” on a Providence Water credit card.
The investigation follows the Aug. 2 resignation of former purchasing supervisor Rebecca Lourenco. Lourenco had been placed on leave after an agency audit discovered questionable credit card transactions.
No further details were immediately available.
