LAS VEGAS (AP) _ LaTroy Hawkins held Las Vegas to four singles over eight innings Tuesday night to lead the Salt Lake City Buzz to a 4-1 win in the Pacific Coast League.

Hawkins (5-4) struck out three and walked three in eight innings.

Glen Dishman (0-1) made his first start in Class AAA ball. He pitched six innings, allowing six hits and two first-inning runs. He struck out nine and walked one.

Jeff Carter had three hits for Salt Lake, leading off the game with a single and scoring on Rich Becker’s triple. Becker later scored on a fielding error by Las Vegas third baseman Julio Bruno.

Kevin Higgins scored for the Stars in the third when he hit a two-out single, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an error by center fielder Becker.

After the third inning, Hawkins did not allow a Stars batter past first base. Salt Lake got two insurance runs in the top half of the ninth off Stars reliever Dustin Hermanson when Carter hit a two-run single.
