ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) _ A 21-month-old boy escaped serious injury when he knocked out a window in his third-floor apartment while playing on his bed and fell about 30 feet to the ground.

Anthony Varing landed on grass, surrounded by glass shards. Latches holding the window in place gave way after the boy pushed or fell against the window, said police officer Dana Jabs.

``It's just amazing,'' Jabs said. ``There's absolutely nothing wrong with that child. I think somebody was watching over him.''

Anthony's mother, Jody Varing, was a short distance away in the bathroom when her son fell Wednesday.

Doctors at Children's Hospital said Anthony suffered no internal injuries. His mother and police said he had some cuts from the glass, but otherwise was fine.

``He's taking a nap now; he's had a long day,'' Jody Varing said.
