Israeli-allied Militiaman Wounded in Bomb Explosion

November 11, 1993

MARJAYOUN, Lebanon (AP) _ A militiaman of Israel’s surrogate army in southern Lebanon was wounded Thursday in a roadside bomb explosion, security sources said.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the bomb exploded near Jezzine, in Israeli-occupied southern Lebanon, as a unit of the South Lebanon Army militia went by.

Militiamen strafed suspected guerrilla trails around Jezzine after the blast, they said.

No group claimed responsibility for the bomb.

But Shiite Muslim Hezbollah guerrillas backed by Iran and radical Palestinian factions supported by Syria have sworn to wreck Israel’s Sept. 13 accord with the Palestine Liberation Organization through stepped-up attacks in the Israeli-occupied zone.
