UNLV 60, No. 24 Oklahoma St. 55
LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Cherie Hogg scored 13 points, including a 3-point shot that gave UNLV the lead with 2:06 remaining, and the Rebels defeated No. 24 Oklahoma State 60-55 in the Showboat Shootout championship Wednesday night.
UNLV (5-1) trailed 46-36 when Gwynn Hobbs made consecutive 3-pointers in a 41-second span to pull the Rebels to 46-42 with 11:44 remaining.
A jumper by Tracy Titus tied it 47-47 before Oklahoma State (4-2) went ahead.
UNLV tied it again at 51, then scored five straight points, including Hogg’s 3-pointer that gave the Rebels a 54-51 lead with 2:06 to play. Tonia Carter hit a layup with 45 seconds to go to seal the victory.
Hobbs finished with 11 points, and was named tournament MVP. Iris Dinerman added 10 points for the Rebels, who won their own tournament for the seventh time in eight years.
Amy Scales was the only player in double figures with 18 points for Oklahoma State, which shot 38 percent and committed 27 turnovers.
