Scranton Man Accused Of Stealing Jewelry From Newton Twp. Home

August 23, 2018

NEWTON TWP. — A Scranton man faces charges after South Abington Twp. police said he stole jewelry from a township home.

Christopher Shupp, 36, 2304 Edith Ave., is accused of stealing about $5,900 worth of jewelry from a Kimberly Circle house on April 12. Police linked Shupp to a vehicle depicted in video footage taken from a neighboring home, according to court documents. Officers interviewed Shupp after he was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Shupp told them he took the jewelry and sold the items at pawn shops, police said.

A judge arraigned Shupp on burglary, theft and related charges Wednesday. He is held in county prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 5.
