Olympiakos trounces PAOK 4-0
ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Costa Rican forward Joel Campbell scored a goal and helped create two more as Greek league leader Olympiakos had a surprisingly lopsided 4-0 victory over second-place PAOK on Sunday.
Costas Mitroglou, Javier Saviola and David Fuster scored Olympiakos’ other goals.
Defending champion Olympiakos dominated from start to finish and could have scored more goals while PAOK never seriously threatened to score.
Campbell’s cross from the right was met by Mitroglou, who lunged forward to score from close range in the 38th minute — his league-leading 14th goal of the season.
On the hour, Campbell had a cross blocked but he recovered the ball and squared for Saviola who scored from near the penalty spot.
Fuster made it 3-0 in the 74th with a header off Jose Holebas’ corner and Campbell closed the scoring in the 80th with an individual effort helped by defensive mistakes. He lobbed the ball between two defenders to enter the area and took advantage of a misplaced lunge by PAOK goalkeeper Jacobo.
The win helped Olympiakos extend its lead over PAOK to six points after 11 rounds.
Third-place Atromitos, which lost 2-1 at Panionios, is a further seven points behind.
Also Sunday, Kalloni won 3-0 at last-place Veria, Ergotelis beat Panthrakikos 3-1 and Panetolikos prevailed 2-1 over Levadiakos.
