SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City man was sentenced to one year in jail for the car crash that killed two of his West High School classmates and injured a pregnant woman.

Abraham Miranda was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty last month to two counts of manslaughter for the deaths of 18-year-old Dylan Emilio Hernandez and 17-year-old Vidal Pacheco-Tinoco.

The judge also ordered 19-year-old Miranda to five years of probation with 250 hours of community service spent educating teens on the dangers of reckless driving.

Authorities say Miranda was driving 95 mph (152 kph) when he crashed into the vehicle driven by 32-year-old Amy Elizabeth Stevenson-Wilson.

The crash killed Miranda’s two passengers and critically injured Stevenson-Wilson who was 34 weeks pregnant.

Stevenson-Wilson’s daughter was born six weeks early and was also injured.
