Young athletes get the chance to participate in the Sports City U Basketball Academy Jr. NBA program on Saturday in Hurricane.

HURRICANE, W.Va. — If young basketball players want to be future NBA stars they might as well dress the part.

At Sports City U, youngster do just that in the Junior NBA program. Players in Kindergarten through second grade receive NBA-style uniforms and compete in a league. Games are 40 minutes long, not 24 as are many youth league contests, weekly practices take place, lower goals are used and teams are introduced with official team music.

“It’s off the charts,” Sports City U owner Jim Clayton said.
