25-year-old man ID’d in State slaying
A 25-year-old Fort Wayne man has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting in a West State Boulevard parking lot.
Brinden R. Hall Fletcher’s death Monday night is the 40th homicide this year in Allen County, the county coroner’s office said Tuesday after an autopsy.
He was taken in a private car to a hospital after the 5:50 p.m. shooting and pronounced dead a short time after arrival, the coroner said.
Fort Wayne police have said the shooting might have resulted from an interaction in the West State Plaza parking lot.
Police found another man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition and was downgraded to critical.
It was the second fatal shooting in as many days in Fort Wayne.
Truvarus L. Giddens Jr., 22, of Fort Wayne died Sunday after he was shot in the 2500 block of Barr Street.
Although Giddens was found inside a home, police have said they believe the shooting happened outside the home because of shell casings that were found in an adjacent alley.
Giddens was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, the coroner said.
