Orr Retains British Masters Lead

August 12, 2000

WOBURN, England (AP) _ Gary Orr shot a 4-under-par 68 Saturday at the British Masters to keep the lead after three rounds, while Colin Montgomerie pulled within two strokes with a 66.

Orr cooled off from his course-record 62 Friday but still doubled his lead as Mark McNulty of Zimbabwe, one behind overnight, double-bogeyed the 16th hole after hitting into trees.

Orr, a 33-year-old Scot whose only European Tour victory came at the Algarve Portuguese Open in February, is at 19-under 197. Montgomery’s is alone in second place at 17 under.

McNulty’s 71 dropped him to third, at 15 under.

Four players are another stroke back: 1999 British Open champion Paul Lawrie, Jarrod Moseley of Australia, Englishman Ian Garbutt and Per-Ulrik Johansson of Sweden.

Lawrie shot a day’s best 64, Moseley 66, Garbutt 68 and Johansson 69.
